Project Summary
As a fund dedicated to preventing violent extremism, our client connects local communities to global resources, supporting grassroots initiatives. The needs assessment had two key objectives: first, to enhance our client's understanding of the vulnerabilities to violent extremism, and second, to pinpoint strategic opportunities for programmatic interventions in the country, potentially expanded to cross-border initiatives.
Nurai conducted:
15 in-depth interviews with key experts
9 community-level focus group discussions across West Java, Central Java, and West Nusa Tenggara
A thorough review of academic and gray literature
In just three months, our client gained a clear, evidence-based roadmap for engaging in Indonesia. The assessment mapped existing programs, assessed intervention gaps and provided key recommendations for funding grassroots CSOs, increasing social cohesion, and strengthening reintegration efforts for returnees and former extremists. A validation exercise was conducted with community and government stakeholders.
Client Review
"The first draft of the Country Needs Assessment we commissioned was very good, which really helped to reach a final version faster. The deadlines have been mostly respected, the team has been courteous and understanding. Our requests for modifications or clarifications have been well received, this helped to get a final product that was corresponding to what we needed."
