Project Summary

TAG international is a Centre of Excellence for national and community security, helping to secure the lives and livelihoods of the most vulnerable people across the globe. It implements the Harnessing Opportunities for Meaningful Employment (HOME) pilot project funded by the UK Government, which seeks to empower individuals vulnerable to irregular migration, offering them viable local opportunities (by providing training, fostering entrepreneurship, and partnering with MSMEs) to remain within their communities.

Nurai led the inception research using qualitative approaches via KIIs and FGDs, to gain rich and in-depth insights into Nigerian migrants' experiences and perspectives. The recommendations then shaped the program, focusing on alternative pathways and guiding the selection of students and vocational training centers.

Nurai also conducted a process evaluation (including travel to Nigeria to interview vocational training center leads and students) which provided insights into the program's progress, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned. These findings will help refine the pilot and may inform a potential program extension.
