1- What we are looking for
We’re looking for a Research and Insights Lead to support research, monitoring and evaluation:
80% of your time will be spent coordinating with researchers around the world, designing research, making sense of qualitative data, visualizing results, and writing.
15% of your time will be spent helping to build our project management systems and/or streamlining operations.
5% of your time will be spent in other areas, such as team building, assisting with recruitment, developing business proposals, and travel.
The successful candidate likely has a master’s degree and adequate professional experience in a role requiring the technical skills below. However, recent graduates (or master’s students who will soon graduate) are welcome to apply if they can demonstrate drive and an aptitude to learn quickly. Most importantly, the successful candidate learns fast, is motivated by diverse work topics, and thrives in uncertainty. You can be based anywhere you like, with a preference for those closer to UAE time zones and/or based in the UAE.
2- Role
You’ll take ownership of challenging data collection, analysis and learning projects across Africa and Asia on topics ranging from climate change to violent extremism. We’ll look to you to ensure that the right people are working on our projects and that data comes in on time and quality issues are addressed. It’s a fantastic opportunity to work directly with experienced researchers on some of our most important deliverables.
3- Requirements
During recruitment, you’ll be asked to demonstrate the technical skills and attributes below.
Technical skills
We’ll look at your track record and potential in:
Designing, implementing, and reporting for qualitative research.
Delivery and, ideally, supervision of others’ data collection work.
Writing (research results, other formats) and presenting in English.
Working with digital tools. Our toolkit includes Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Airtable.
As a bonus, we love additional language skills, experience writing proposals, building external partnerships, and mentoring.
Values
We'll look for evidence of:
Integrity – you show up to work, work hard, rest, and remain open and honest.
Respect – you value others’ time, make efforts to build internal relationships, and offer coaching where relevant.
Tenacity – you have a can-do attitude, set manageable deadlines and meet them, take action to mitigate failures, and find solutions to problems.
Ownership – you deliver on your promises, take responsibility for deliverables, and you don’t make excuses.
4- Terms
Appointments are considered at Grade 2 or 3, depending on experience, with compensation ranging from $2,000-$3,500 monthly plus $450 allowance as a contribution to your personal work expenses.
After 6 months of high performance, and where relevant, there is the option for sponsored relocation to the UAE, if you are not already based here.
All core team members enjoy four weeks (20 days) paid leave plus one week (5 days) “company shutdown” during the New Year period, giving a total of 25 paid days’ leave. In addition, up to four weeks unpaid leave for rest, illness, or family-related issues is possible after 1 year.
